Clearly, I have been slacking on my food blog responsibilities. Sheesh! It's been way too long since I've posted! I'll try to sum up a year and a half in a page. ;)
Mrs. Panza and I completed our 2016 Bakery Crawl last week. We decided to hit up our favorite places this time. Our first stop was the Oakmont Bakery in Oakmont. We were worried about the crowds due to the U.S. Open, but we were pleasantly surprised. We beat the crowds. There are so many must haves at Oakmont Bakery. Mrs. Panza always stocks up on New York Sticks. I love their scones, brownie drop cookies. Paczi are always a huge winner. If you haven't had the chance to try these amazing treats, make it a priority. Call first though, they don't always have them.
Next stop La Gourmandine in Lawrenceville. This is pure French joy! Sadly, I'm ignorant to the French language, so I spend my time pointing to things in the case. I tried something new this trip. They were the size of a doughnut hole, but had the consistency of a croissant and had chunks of sugar sprinkled on top. Light and delicious! Mrs. Panza picked up a sandwich this trip, but she shared that, so I have no report on that deliciousness.
Stop three...Gaby et Jules in Squirrel Hill. This French bakery is insane! It looks more like an art display than an eatery. Everything in the shop is gorgeous. They have a huge selection of macarons. They are amazing. Light. Crisp. Sweet. Oh my!
We rounded out our trip at Lulu's Noodles in Oakland. I tried Pho for the first time. All I can say is, "Wow!" It was a huge bowl of noodles, sprouts, beef, and broth. I am in love.
If you have any bakery or food joint suggestions, please let me know! I'm always looking for cool places to eat. Furries weekend is coming, so I'll be downtown with Mrs. Panza.
